Practical work in quantum engineering

KWANTEACH is a turnkey, modular NV-center diamond platform that transforms the way quantum physics is taught. Created by university professors to give students a real-world grasp of quantum phenomena, it delivers engaging, hands-on table-top experiments that make complex concepts tangible.

There are around 15 experiments theory and refreshers available. Notably in the

  • Base module: ODMR, Zeeman effect, hyperfine structure, basic quantum metrology.
  • Pulsed extension: T₁ relaxation, Rabi oscillations, T₂* (Ramsey), T₂ echo (Hahn‑Echo), two‑level saturation and related coherence experiments.

No. The bench is designed for room‑temperature operation with no vacuum or cryogens, minimizing safety, facilities and scheduling overhead.

From Undergraduates to PhD students with a focus on MSc and above.

Control unit, 3‑axis Helmholtz coils, photodetector, laser, NV diamond with RF antenna, opto‑mechanics, and software—ready for continuous‑wave experiments.

A pulsed control unit with pulse generation, RF switching and acquisition chain—unlocking T₁/T₂, Rabi, Ramsey and Hahn‑Echo labs (coherence and qubit manipulation).

Yes. A Teacher Book with >15 guided experiments (protocols, measurements, learning outcomes) supports rapid adoption and didactic consistency. Besides, Kwan-tek is developing an intranet type of users forum to share best practices, ideas and tips opened to all its users to enhance usage and efficiency.

Students align optics and RF, make and correct real mistakes, and observe quantum phenomena live—leading to stronger skills transfer and deeper conceptual understanding than screen‑only simulators. One of the strengths of the KWANTEACH is that you can see the beam passing through, which makes it more understandable and didactic. We believe that the best way to learn is by making mistakes. With KWANTEACH, students can derange the product, understand their mistakes, and correct them themselves.

Once delivered and installed, the bench is immediately teachable (no specialty facilities). Typical onboarding allows integration into 4–8 hour lab blocks.

A standard optical table/board footprint with laser safety and typical lab power. No vacuum pumps or cryogenic infrastructure are required.

Yes. It targets education and universities and covers the core NV‑center physics for capstone projects and early‑stage research skill‑building.

Each module ships with an appropriate control/DAQ stack, enabling direct capture of ODMR resonances, Rabi oscillations, Ramsey fringes, Hahn‑Echo decays, etc.

Optical alignment, RF control, signal processing, and interpretation of spin‑physics observables (contrast, linewidth, relaxation and coherence times) mapped to curriculum learning outcomes via the Teacher Book.

Because quantum physics isn’t just equations on a page — it’s a living, measurable reality. Students need to see how the abstract mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics connects directly to the experimental signals that emerge from the microscopic world.

As Alain Aspect, 2022 Physics Nobel Prize Laureate, explains:

“It’s essential to show students that the abstract mathematical formalism of quantum physics applies directly to the experimental signals that come to us from the microscopic world. The KWANTEACH educational platform should enable students and their teachers to experience the same sense of wonder that I’ve always felt when interacting directly with the quantum world.”

When the world’s leading quantum physicist says it, it matters: KWANTEACH stands out as the premier teaching platform for quantum physics

KWANTEACH is already the prime teaching quantum physics educational plateform at around 20 prime universities and engineering schools around the world. This includes Paris Saclay University, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Université de Moncton, Chung Yuan Christian University, CentraleSupélec, ENSSAT Lannion, Université de Bordeaux …

We believe that any teacher using KWANTEACH would welcome a reference call or a local visit. Please ask us.

If you cannot talk to Alain Aspect, Nobel Prize winner for his opinion on KWANTEACH, please read his testimonial: “It’s essential to show students that the abstract mathematical formalism of quantum physics applies directly to the experimental signals that come to us from the microscopic world. Case studies report high engagement and stronger conceptual understanding thanks to tangible manipulation and real‑time visualization of quantum phenomena. KWANTEACH took our quantum physics studies to a whole new level. Being able to manipulate a real experimental setup was incredibly exciting. It was the most engaging lab we’ve done all year, and it definitely sparked our interest in further exploration. This is a must-have tool for any institution teaching quantum physics.” state one student at ENSSAT France.

For most departments, yes, when considering total cost of ownership (staff time, iterations, documentation, safety, maintenance and spares). In‑house NV benches often require multiple semesters before stable teaching use; a ready‑to‑teach platform compresses time‑to‑impact. Illustratively, many programs avoid ~18–24 months of integration and ≈ $50k in opportunity costs—actual numbers depend on local FTE rates and scope.

KWANTEACH is designed and manufactured in Franc at the highest quality level. We offer a responsive support to our clients in English language around the world. Onboarding resources (Teacher Book, demos, example datasets) and a modular architecture (Base + Pulsed) sustain long‑term upkeep and upgrades.

Request a live demo or webinar to see our experiments in real time and validate alignment with your syllabus and lab infrastructure. You can also watch some of our video. Alternatively, visit one of our existing clients.

The modular design lets you start with the Base module and add the Pulsed extension later, expanding into coherence and qubit‑manipulation labs without re‑platforming.

Yes. Amongst others

Miguel Monteverde, Edwin Kermerc, Kyriaki Smioti (Paris-Saclay U, Solid state physics lab): “KWANTEACH is a product designed for research and teaching, allowing concrete and practical use. Given the complexity of NV centres, it is crucial to have a visible, mature and interesting offering for TP that lasts over time.” “Easy to use, it works at room temperature and allows different materials to be manipulated. The best way to learn is by making mistakes. With KWANTEACH, students can derange the product, understand their mistakes, and correct them themselves.” “It’s a very good experiment, very practical for understanding quantum physics.”

Pierre Guillemé (ENSSAT, France): “KWANTEACH has made quantum physics more concrete and accessible. For the first time at a Master level, it is easily possible to make Quantum physics coming out of the books and into the lab benches”. “We are convinced that this tool has a promising future and we plan to expand its use within our institution.”
